2 Thessalonians 1:9 – (MSG) “Those who refuse to know God and refuse to obey the Message will pay for what they’ve done. Eternal exile from the presence of the Master and his splendid power is their sentence.”
In modern days, many marketers build their offers using the “pain of separation” in their products and services. The idea is that once you buy and are all set up to receive the benefit of their offer, it will be a big hassle and cause great pain when you decide to disconnect from their service.
An example of this is when someone builds a website on a platform they control. If you don’t want to continue paying them, you must deal with the pain of building a new site.
However, the pain of separation in ending business relationships is nothing compared to the pain we’d feel if we were separated from God for all eternity.
In Paul’s second letter to the Thessalonians, he reminded us that to receive the gift of eternal life, we must believe that Jesus is the Messiah. That he is the Son of God and realize that he was sent to earth to pay the ransom for our release from sin. He paid for our release with his life. He was crucified for our sins.
Thank God that’s not the end of the story. 3 days later, Jesus was alive! In his hand were the keys to death and hades, which he had overcome.
Our role in gaining eternal life is simply to believe what was written. Accept it as the truth. But because God gave us the freedom to choose – many will choose not to believe. As a result, they will be in exile from their Lord and Savior forever.
Today, consider the facts for yourself. Then choose to believe. I believe it will be a decision you’ll never regret and one that will provide joy (not pain) forever.
